Last week middle and upper school robotics students took part in two events, showcasing their robotics skills. First, the Advanced Robotics class brought their robotic toy projects into a Kindergarten class where they were able to have the younger students do real play-testing of their robots. The students decorated the robots to resemble puppies, piggies, and other cute creatures and also programmed them to responded to voices, touch, nearby objects, and even the beam of a flashlight!
Later in the week the Advanced Robotics students joined the grade 7 students at a robotics expo during which the rest of the middle school walked from project to project to see the machines the students had invented, designed, built, and programmed. Grade 7 project ideas ranged from a microwave oven to iPods and televisions to washing machines and featured scrolling messages, music, and spinning motors.
