The athletic program at Hewitt is comprehensive. In the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, students participate in intramural sports clubs where they sharpen fundamental skills and grow accustomed to the commitment involved in being part of a team. Starting in grade five, students have the option of competing inter-scholastically in Cross-Country, Basketball, and Track and Field. In grade seven, students may also compete in Volleyball and Soccer.
Our Upper School fields nine varsity and two junior varsity teams that compete in the Athletic Association of Independent Schools:
  • Badminton
  • Basketball
  • Crew
  • Cross Country
  • Soccer
  • Squash
  • Tennis
  • Track and Field
  • Volleyball

Hewitt Partners with IMG

Athletics and fitness play an essential role in the Hewitt experience. To that end, our school has partnered with the global sports media conglomerate IMG, the first high school to do so in the country. IMG Academy‘s coaches and instructors will provide professional support and consulting for our athletics program, coaches, and teachers. As well, the Academy will host two Hewitt teams in spring training camps at their Florida facility. This partnership, consistent with our Strategic Plan, emphasizes Hewitt’s commitment to a more holistic approach to girls’ athletics and wellness; team sports still form the framework of the program, but priority is also given to physical development, mental toughness, strategy, communication, and sustainability so our students may make exercise and wellness an integral part of their lives beyond school.
