The arts are an integral part of a Hewitt education. Through an array of artistic experiences — classes, rehearsals, individual tutorials, dramatic productions, concerts and exhibits — Hewitt girls have opportunities to explore and nurture their own creative abilities and talents and to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the arts. Hewitt’s enviable proximity to New York’s great cultural institutions enables the students to experience and learn from the city’s abundant artistic resources.

Work in the arts affords opportunities for girls to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the world by taking creative risks, thinking independently, working collaboratively, and exploring a diverse range of cultural perspectives and forms of expression. In addition to being gifted and dedicated teachers, all faculty in the Hewitt Creative Arts Department are themselves practicing professional artists, and they inspire in their students the ability and desire to share the fruits of their artistic endeavors with the community.
