Community Service

Service learning is an integral part of our school’s academic curriculum and community service is incorporated into school days and throughout the calendar year. As part of their education at Hewitt, the girls become socially aware members of local and global communities. All students at Hewitt participate in community service activities selected by students and faculty, beginning in kindergarten and continuing on until graduation. Each grade level in the lower and middle school works with a national program or a local organization that is developmentally appropriate and meaningful. The girls in grades four through twelve independently fulfill required hours of service by participating in a variety of activities that include New York Cares, Building Libraries, Baby Buggy and Meals on Wheels.¬†The entire school¬†community participates in events that include the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Ronald McDonald Fun Run and Project Cicero.
