Hewitt's Fall 2021 Plan
Throughout the pandemic, our approach to teaching and learning has been guided by our steadfast commitments to health and safety, academic progress, and community and belonging. As the pandemic has evolved, so too have our plans, and beginning in September 2021, we look forward to welcoming all students in kindergarten through twelfth grade back to campus for in-person learning five days a week. Hewitt will not offer a fully online option for the 2021-2022 school year.
As new guidelines are shared by state and local health officials, we will update this page with more information about our policies and practices. We will also share more information about how those guidelines will shape plans for extracurricular, choir, athletics, and after-school programs. In the meantime, we share below how we are thinking about the year ahead.
Throughout the pandemic we remained committed to ensuring the academic progress of our students, and as we begin the new school year we will continue to focus on making sure that students are progressing toward important academic benchmarks as they establish their learning routines.
We protect to the greatest extent possible the health and safety of our community members through careful attention to recommended health and safety guidelines from state and local agencies, and through consultation with medical experts.
After a year of being apart more often than we would have liked, it is especially important to us that we not only meet our students’ intellectual needs, but also nurture their social and emotional connections with others. Authentic human relationships foster the abiding sense of community and belonging that is integral to a Hewitt education.
