Giving Girls a Place in the Engineering World
Jeremy Sambuca, Director of Technology

As members of Hewitt Robotics, middle and upper school students work in teams to plan, design, build, and test robots before competing against peers throughout New York State at VEX Robotics tournaments. Our dedicated Hewitt Robotics teams are consistently recognized for their robotics skills, design talents, and teamwork, and regularly earn places at the VEX State and World Championship.

In addition to participating in competitions, VEX Robotics teams can enter online challenges designed to showcase additional talents that may not be displayed on the robotics field. In response to a recent online challenge, Hewitt Robotics Team 11442N created an inspiring video to shed light on the lack of women in STEM fields and to highlight how, through robotics, "students are able to get engineering experience...creating a space for a love of technology to grow."

Team 11442N, comprised of three middle school students, has already qualified to compete in the VEX IQ Robotics Southern New York State Championship in February. Our entire community looks forward to rooting for all of our qualifying teams as they represent Hewitt Robotics.
