We are delighted to announce that Thérèse Collins will be Hewitt’s next director of admissions and enrollment management, effective July 1, 2023. After a highly competitive search process that concluded with full-day interviews with faculty, staff, students, and parents, and a thorough review of feedback submitted by the community and the search committee, we are thrilled to have recruited a deeply knowledgeable enrollment management professional with extensive experience in independent school admissions. 

Thérèse brings to Hewitt over a decade of experience working in admissions and financial aid at day and boarding schools on the East and West Coasts. She is a brilliant strategic thinker, exceptional listener, and creative problem solver, and during the search process we were impressed by her strong track record of successful data-driven decision making and her commitment to staying current on trends and best practices in independent school admissions and enrollment. 

Thérèse is currently director of admission and enrollment at the French American International School, a PK-12 school in San Francisco enrolling over 1,000 students. She graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Jewish studies and international studies from the Honors Program at the City University of New York – where she was awarded a Colin Powell Leadership Fellowship – and has her Masters in Education in school leadership from the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. 

Thérèse is thrilled to be returning to New York and looks forward to joining the Hewitt community where she will work alongside our students, families, teachers, staff, and alumnae. As a graduate of a girls’ school herself, Thérèse shared that she is proud to be returning to the type of school that prepared her so well for college and beyond. Thérèse said, “During my visit to Hewitt, I marveled at the sense of joy, warmth, and kindness exuded by the students, parents, faculty, and staff, and I knew this was the right community for me. I can’t wait to start sharing the benefits of Hewitt's research-based educational philosophy with prospective families navigating the process of finding the right fit school.” In the coming months, Head of School Dr. Tara Christie Kinsey looks forward to working with Thérèse and Director of Admissions and Enrollment Melissa Hong to begin a transition process to ensure the smooth and effective continuation of our outstanding admissions program.
