We are delighted to announce that William Young will be Hewitt’s next director of advancement, effective September 1, 2024. After a highly competitive search process that concluded with full-day interviews with faculty, staff, students, parents, and trustees, and a thorough review of feedback submitted by the community and the search committee, we are thrilled to have recruited a deeply knowledgeable advancement director with extensive experience in independent schools.
William joins Hewitt from Harrow School, a boys’ boarding school located in London, England. In his role as the director of the Harrow Development Trust, William worked closely with Harrow’s head of school and senior leadership to secure £100m toward new state of the art teaching and learning facilities, financial aid, and partnerships with the local community. He also played a leadership role in the school’s 450th anniversary celebrations. Prior to joining Harrow in 2018, William held roles in advancement and development at Eton College, University College London, and Dulwich College. He is an alumnus of Eton College, and holds a B.A. in music from the University of Manchester.
William is thrilled to be relocating to New York City with his wife and daughter, who will be enrolling in Hewitt’s second grade this fall. William said, “I am delighted to be joining Hewitt's leadership team and am looking forward to working closely with families, the Board of Trustees, volunteers, and the wider community in advancing Hewitt's distinctive K-12 offering and strengthening the support available for the School’s strategic priorities. Hewitt is an exceptional community of educators, faculty, and thought leaders committed to inspiring girls and young women, both inside and outside of the classroom. It is a strong connection with the ethos of the School, and its community, which makes me excited to join Hewitt as a new staff member and parent.”
We are extraordinarily grateful to each and every member of the Hewitt community who devoted time, energy, and thought to this process. Please join us in congratulating and warmly welcoming William to Hewitt as the next leader of our advancement office!
