Varsity Soccer
Head Coach: Horace McFarlane
Assistant Coaches: Grace Gvodas and Wilson Aldas
Our varsity soccer team finished an incredible season with an impressive 8-5 record. The team earned an historic third seed in the Athletic Association of Independent Schools (AAIS) league postseason, their highest placement in school history. With sheer determination, they stormed into the AAIS Quarterfinals against Packer Collegiate and advanced to the AAIS Semifinals against Sacred Heart, where every pass, tackle, and goal had the Hewitt community out of their seats and cheering for the Hawks. The team broke another record by qualifying for the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) Soccer Tournament for the first time in Hewitt history. Facing off against Trinity at Randall’s Island, our student athletes proudly represented Hewitt on one of New York’s premier athletic stages.
Player highlights from the season included an unstoppable sophomore whose hard work and precision made her the highest goal scorer in school history, setting a record for future Hawks to chase. We also celebrated three players who were selected as AAIS All-Stars, a tribute to their individual talent and the team’s extraordinary effort.

It was an unforgettable season for Hewitt’s varsity cross country team, with student athletes showing sheer tenacity, grit, and incredible speed as they carved their path to success! The Hawks fought their way through a challenging lineup of competitors to secure their place in the highly anticipated AAIS Championship. Leading the charge was an eighth grade sensation whose standout performance captured the crowd’s attention as she powered through the course with precision and determination. She crossed the finish line in an impressive 21st place, earning a well-deserved top-25 medal — a remarkable feat for one of the youngest competitors in the pack!
But the season didn’t stop there. Riding the momentum of their AAIS success, the Hawks punched their ticket to the NYSAIS Championship, proving that they are a formidable force on the cross country scene. With each race, the Hawks showed immense resilience and teamwork, and they will be remembered for the strides they made, both individually and collectively, throughout the season.
