Congratulations to the cast and crew of Hewitt’s middle school production of The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition! Based on the hit Nickelodeon show SpongeBob SquarePants, the musical adaptation is a wonderful celebration of friendship, community, authenticity, and joy.
This year’s musical featured a cast of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders on-stage, middle and upper school students backstage as technical theater and crew members, and upper school students playing cello and reed instruments as members of the pit orchestra.
The production was bright, fun, and full of life, and the students involved demonstrated incredible teamwork. One seventh grade cast member commented on what it takes to be a member of a musical, sharing, “Being a part of a cast builds your teamwork skills. In academic studies, you're often working on your own progress; but in the musical, you are working together to gain success.”
The seventh grade student who played Pearl Krabs reflected on the experience saying, “We worked together regardless of the grade we were in, and by the end of it all we were more than just castmates, we were all good friends. I would definitely say that my favorite part of being in this musical was the community that surrounded it.”
Bravo to all involved in putting The SpongeBob Musical: Youth Edition on stage!
