Bravo to the cast and crew of Hewitt's upper school fall play, The Resolute: All Hands In! Set at one of the first elite colleges for women, the play follows a group of freshmen as they discover a place outside of time where anything is possible, even rebellion, even baseball. Inspired by an extraordinary astronomy professor, these daring students pursue joy, face their fears, and transform their lives forever.
Director and Hewitt drama teacher Colleen Britt and playwright Gabrielle Sinclair have been developing The Resolute since 2017. When the pandemic paused their production at The Paradise Factory here in New York City, Sinclair reimagined The Resolute into two parts, beginning with All Hands In, which was specially crafted for Hewitt’s talented student artists.
Britt shares, “Working on a new play can be extremely challenging, and this cast’s incredible drive and commitment has been breathtaking. They approached every phase of the process — from researching what life was like for young women in the late 1800’s to rehearsing alongside the cast’s professional actress — with determination and honesty, and remained flexible as we made changes to the blocking and script. I applaud the cast, crew, designers, and amazing playwright for coming together to express themselves, learn, and grow through this production.”
