Congratulations to all of our varsity and junior varsity winter athletes! This season, the Hawks competed at state and national levels, beating both school and personal records. Read on for a recap from each team’s incredible season.
Hewitt Varsity Squash
Hewitt’s varsity squash team secured their return to the Athletic Association of Independent Schools (AAIS) postseason! Two standout players earned recognition as AAIS All-Stars, showcasing their talent and contributions to the team's success. The team traveled to Philadelphia to compete in the U.S. High School Squash Championships, where they represented Hewitt with pride and determination on the national stage. The team's perseverance was evident throughout the tournament and they finished 7th out of 16 teams - a remarkable feat considering we started at 11th seed spot. This is the first team from Hewitt to attend Nationals and secure a win, adding to the team's enthusiasm and pride!
Hewitt Varsity Indoor Track and Field
The varsity indoor track and field team earned their spot in the AAIS postseason with a competitive spirit evident in every competition. Two exceptional athletes were honored as AAIS All-Stars for their outstanding contributions to the team's success. Hewitt also had 12 qualifiers for the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) Championships, and a standout freshman shattered our school's high jump record! One senior indoor track and field athlete qualified for the New York State (NYS) Federation Indoor Track and Field Championships for the third consecutive year and earned the prestigious Sportsmanship Award.
Hewitt Varsity Basketball
Our varsity basketball team achieved a milestone this season by securing a spot in the AAIS postseason playoffs. Throughout the season, they demonstrated high levels of competition, generating excitement and pride within the school community. Their journey to the playoffs symbolizes a promising future filled with potential and determination. Two Hewitt athletes were selected as AAIS League All-Stars this season.
Hewitt Junior Varsity Basketball
The J.V. basketball team also made a strong comeback to the AAIS postseason, returning after a hiatus since their 2020 J.V. championship win. They displayed a fierce competitive spirit in every game, and two players were recognized as AAIS All-Stars, highlighting the team's talent and collective effort. Congratulations J.V. basketball!
