Hewitt Annual Fund

The Hewitt School Annual Fund is a yearly campaign that provides unrestricted funds to support the school’s highest priorities in any given year. Given the challenges posed by the current pandemic, the Annual Fund is perhaps more important than ever. This year, the Annual Fund campaign runs from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. As Hewitt is a non-profit institution, gifts to the Hewitt Annual Fund are tax-deductible.

Will my gift really make a difference?

Yes! A gift of any size is an endorsement for Hewitt and has a much broader impact than its financial support alone. We ask all families to participate at a level meaningful to them. 100 percent participation of our families is an important factor that foundations and corporations consider when deciding to invest in Hewitt. When families give back, they confirm their belief in Hewitt’s mission and demonstrate that our community values the education that Hewitt provides.

Why should I support the Annual Fund when I already pay tuition?

At Hewitt, the Annual Fund makes up between 5-7 percent of the school’s operating budget each year, while tuition and other income cover 93 percent. These much-needed Annual Fund dollars benefit the teaching and learning of each and every student and faculty member, including ensuring that a Hewitt education is accessible to an economically diverse population. Unlike tuition, gifts to the Annual Fund are fully tax-deductible. Hewitt benefits greatly from a tradition of annual giving shared by many independent schools whose communities unite in this show of support.

How do gifts to the Annual Fund differ from funds raised at the Benefit?

Each year, the Benefit’s fundraising goal goes directly toward a particular strategic priority separate from the Annual Fund. Funds raised for the 2021 At Hewitt Benefit were earmarked for transforming our physical learning spaces in the next year and in future years. Today, we are asking all of our community members to support Hewitt’s present by making a donation to the 2022-2023 Annual Fund. Hewitt strives for 100 percent participation for both the Annual Fund and the Benefit.
