Summer Camp Program Offerings

This summer, we are excited to offer three camp programs. Led by expert educators, Hewitt Summer Camp offers a fun and nurturing environment to make new friends and learn new skills through creative, educational, and physical activities. Campers can sign up for all five weeks of camp, or select the number of sessions that fit their summer schedule.

  • Summer Explorers (Rising K-4th graders)

Each week, campers will enjoy field trips around New York City, science and engineering challenges, games and sports, cooking and crafting, and recess in Central Park. We will also welcome special performances, including puppet and magic shows, and most Summer Explorer programs include tennis lessons. (Tuition includes snacks, lunch, and all activities and materials.)

  • NYC Exploration (Rising 3rd-6th graders)
Join us as we explore the greatest city in the world! Each day, campers will take a field trip to a different awesome place in New York using public transportation. Possible destinations include the Queens County Farm, Governors Island, the Museum of Broadway, Wave Hill, and Central Park. (Tuition includes all activities and materials. Campers should bring a snack and a bagged lunch with them each day.)

  • Creative Writing (Rising 5th-8th graders)
Back by popular demand, our middle school creative writing camp is perfect for both experienced and curious young writers who want to experiment with poetry, fiction, drama, memoir, and journalism. We will explore these different genres through readings, writing games, and activities. There will be ample free writing time in the classroom for campers to practice several forms of writing or to focus on one they particularly enjoy. We will also take short field trips for writing inspiration in the neighborhood and have daily recess in Central Park. Our final afternoon together will be devoted to sharing favorite pieces of writing aloud with the group. (Tuition includes snacks, lunch, and all activities and materials.)
